...And I'm back. →
About time I got off my ass.
Yup, the new Wildebeest is finally up and going, at the-wildebeest.com. Ya’ll know the drill, I continue to talk about songs I like, and just in time for Valentine’s Day, one particular listen which is simple and to the point. Yup, that one above. Read on and tell a bud.

rjd2 + Aaron Livingston are Icebird. →
I took a listen to The Abandoned Lullaby, the collaboration of rdj2 and singer Aaron Livingston, and came away very surprised. It’s an engaging, fun, odd listen and one hell of a solid record. Check it out.

Check my review of Torae's "For The Record" →
Nothing but hot beats, hard rhymes, and a very impressive list of producers to suit Torae’s dedication to hip-hop. It certainly has its moments. Take a look.

Ice Cube's Death Certificate is 20 years old... →
My biggest article for KevinNottingham.com yet. A retrospective on one of the loudest, angriest, and most confrontational albums hip-hop has ever produced…. Ice Cube’s Death Certificate. Trust me, there’s plenty on this record to offend everyone. But there’s tons here to incense listeners too. Cube simply spoke about the hellish conditions in South Central in the early...

A chill weekend playlist. →
I ain’t dead yet! Been busy on real life shit. Still (hardly) working on the next ‘Beest.
But in the meantime, take a listen to the mix I’ve done on KN for laid back, weekend spins, including artists such as Pete Rock, David Dallas, Crown City Rockers, Slum Village, and yes, even Keith Murray. Enjoy!

What's up with the Beest?
Down to one post a week. Damn, I’ve been slipping.
Well, what’s going on is this: I’m working on a new Beest. Domain name and all that. Don’t get me wrong, Tumblr’s been fun. I’ve encountered a lot of cool people, discovered a lot of new music, information, and so more, and I’ve spent so much damn time on this site checking out posts and finding some...

K'Naan speaks about returning to Somalia... →
The Somali-Canadian artist and activist K’Naan has been rallying hard for his home nation, hit hard by famine, and here he talks about how he feels returning to Somalia. Really fascinating stuff. And check out his music, too, Troubadour and The Dusty Foot Philosopher are great listens, and I’ve written about him before.

One Be Lo dropped "Labor" today. →
Buy it. No, really, go now.
I’m listening right now and I’m loving what I hear. Lo still keeps up the impeccable rhymes and the beats are stronger than ever.
And come on, he samples Dexter’s Laboratory. Yes.

Mayor of Philly rappin' "Rapper's Delight." →
A comment on my “Rapper’s Delight” post from Rachel Dougherty (check out her Tumblr, her art is fantastic!):
After seeing that, well, uh, wow. At least he didn’t mess up, and he was doing his thing, I’ll say that. And Jazzy Jeff on the boards is always a plus. That one person clapping and cheering was kinda sad though.

Check out my article for the National Museum of... →
The NMOH is an initiative to establish a true museum to hip-hop culture in NYC. For now, all they have is a website, but looking at their behind-the-scenes work they are making great strides to make the museum a reality.
They also run a frequent newsletter, so I decided to write about what I know: Canadian hip-hop, and while I was limited to 600 words I think I did it up pretty nicely. Take a...
